Biathlon combines one part cross-country skiing with one part rifle shooting and is a popular TV winter sport.
It is an event that marries two seemingly divergent athletic skill sets: Cross-country skiing is a grueling aerobic exercise, while shooting requires patience, timing and tremendous accuracy.
Ireland became a full member of the International Biathlon Union (IBU) in 2017. The first IRL Biathlon championships was held in Sweden in 2018.
The two aspects to Winter Biathlon are:
Rifle Shooting and Cross Country Skiing.
Roller Skiing: This is a training and summer version of Cross Country Skiing and a good introduction to Cross Country Skiing.
