The Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026 will officially open in 100 days, on 6 February 2026, with the Olympic Opening Ceremony at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium (San Siro Olympic Stadium)
The Sports Energy Support Scheme (SESS) was introduced in December 2022 to support NGBs and Clubs to contribute to the increased energy costs associated with providing sporting activities.
Under the scheme’s application process, the Snowsports Association of Ireland was able to support the Ski Club of Ireland, offset the increased energy costs incurred over the two eligible periods of the grant
Snowsports Ireland are grateful and wish to thank Sport Ireland for their assistance in securing the grant.

Tyler Nicholls-Stubbington just dropped a massive win for Ireland, taking 1st place at the prestigious Rockarail Freeski Rail Event in Thun, Switzerland!
But it wasn’t just about the win, it was about the culture. The energy was electric as the crew celebrated freestyle skiing alongside BMX, skateboarding, trampolining, and even breakdancing.
This is what snow sports is all about!

It is with very great sadness that we write of the passing of our dear friend and colleague Anne O’Connor who passed away suddenly on Thursday 11th September.
Anne was an integral part of the Snowsports Association of Ireland supporting Irish Snowsports athletes through a variety of different roles. Supporting Irish athletes as Chef de Mission at no less than seven European Youth Olympic Festivals and the Youth Olympic Games in Lillehammer in 2016. Year after year, consistently available to support our athletes with race entries, travel logistics, training camps and good advice.
Anne was tireless in her support for others, always with grace, humility, humanity and humour, happy in the knowledge that she was supporting the fulfilment of dreams. A wonderful friend, always willing to help, even at a moment’s notice, we will all miss her approachability, friendliness and charm.
Anne leaves behind a rich athlete centric legacy – we are committed to continuing this in Anne’s memory.
Irish skiing is making its mark in the Southern Hemisphere!
Yesterday, William Zurbay took a fantastic second place in the Slalom, while fellow skier Finlay Wilson finished an impressive sixth. What a great performance by both athletes!
Our Irish alpine racers hit the slopes today in El Colorado, kicking off the season against a stacked international field of 100 competitors from 23 nations.
Massive congratulations to William Zurbay on a phenomenal 5th place finish! That’s an incredible result against some serious talent. And a huge shoutout to Finlay Wilson for securing a strong 23rd place in this highly competitive race with 33 turning gates.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t Connor van Verseveld’s day, with a DNF. But that’s the nature of ski racing, and we know he’s already focused on the next challenge.
Proud of the grit and talent shown by these young athletes representing Ireland on the global stage! Let’s go Team IRL!
Snowsports Association of Ireland would like extend its best wishes the Team Ireland athletes at the Youth Olympic Games 2024 , Gangwon. Éabha McKenna and Finlay Wilson will represent Ireland in Alpine Skiing, Thomas Dooley in Dual Moguls and Lily Cooke will represent Ireland in the Women’s Luge competition.
